They are always a credit to the school, playing as a team and showing great sportsmanship. The children play football most break and lunchtimes on the field and formal training takes place after school.

Cross Country

Our cross country team are very talented children. They run at a number of events each year competing against local schools. There are upper school (Yr 5/6) and lower school (Yr 3/4) distances. Events take place at the Bishop's Field Wells,  Millfield, Downside, Collett Park and more!

Street Dance

Street Dance and County & Maypole Dancing club takes place after school. It is run by Miss Ashworth. The children really enjoy street dance and they perform at The Wells Blue Dance Festival in March, Maypole Dancing at the May Day celebrations in the town square and at the Somerset Folk Dancing Festival on the Cathedral Green in June.

Here is a little more information from Miss Ashworth, our dance teacher:-

Email address: l.ashworth1978@gmail.com

My name is Lindsey and I have been dancing on and off for 21 years. I have ballroom, latin and freestyle training and have taken part in competitions in each. Whilst training I was teaching freestyle to children and assisting in ballroom and latin lessons. After having children, I worked in a school in Manchester and offered an afterschool club in commercial street dance. Whilst working at St Joseph's and Teresa's as a teaching assistant, I started teaching the afterschool club there. I have moved on my career but still offer the SJT Dance Club.

At dance club, we learn dance routines to popular music. The routines are sometimes geared towards age or are whole group dances. The emphasis is to explore and improve our dance skills whilst having fun and keeping fit.

We have provided performances of our routines for the school at special events and assemblies.

In the past we have taken part in the Blue School Festival of Dance and the Highbridge Festival of Dance. We aim to continue these, attend more competitions and also to provide performances for community events.

The club takes place on Tuesday evenings 4pm - 5pm. Each class is £4 per child. Stretch clothing and trainers are essential.
