As a teacher of 39 years experience, I have always been interested in education, and as a former Headteacher of two Catholic schools, particularly in Catholic education.  At the end of my teaching career, I became an Inspector of Religious Education of our Diocese of Clifton and have therefore been able to bring these experiences and insights into my role as Governor here.  My two grandsons attend St Joseph & St Teresa’s and I am hugely supportive of the school, its’ staff and its’ mission and I feel privileged to be associated with it.

I have lived in Wells for the last 20 years. I worked as a senior purchasing manager in the defence industry before retraining as a counsellor. As well as my counselling practice, I work with a range of public and private sector organisations coaching employees on workplace behavioural issues such as communication, conflict resolution (especially workplace bullying), and people development. I try to bring my professional skills to my role as a ‘critical friend’ to the senior leadership team in the school; supporting and encouraging them in their work while challenging them to do the best they can for all pupils.

I am passionate about education and providing children with the attitudes, skills, and a Catholic ethos to hep them flourish in a changing and challenging world.

I have lived in Wells with my husband and daughter since 2010, having previously worked in Bristol. I’m a self employed mortgage professional. We have a daughter that attended the school and has now moved onto St Gregory’s Catholic College in Bath. With work, plus my daughter’s dance and performing arts commitments, life is pretty hectic for us. I was involved with the school PTFA for a number of years and I am now privileged to be a Foundation Governor and continue to support the school.

I arrived in Wells in September 2008 as Parish Priest. I previously served in Marlborough and Salisbury. I am delighted to be a governor as both my parents were teachers, but my primary contact with the children probably comes under the heading of Chaplaincy. I visit the school weekly and love to celebrate mass with the children in the school hall, classrooms and in church. Contact with parents is also important. I enjoy speaking to parents in the playground and when they ask to see me.
