Cafod Fundraiser 10th March 2017

The children organised their own fundraising games to raise money for Cafod.  Cafod are helping the poorest communities to set up their own fish farms so that they can feed their family and earn a living.  The children had a fish theme to their fundraising games.  We raised £100 which is enough to build five fish ponds.

Parents and children held a ‘Bake Sale’ to raise money for the rebuilding of the Wells Play Park.
Samaritan’s Purse.
Thank you for your Christmas parcels. We sent 45 parcels to needy children around the world.
Poppy Appeal – Our Year 6 children have been selling poppies on the playground before and after school every day.

We held a non-uniform day to raise money for Cafod Family Fast Day.   We encouraged the children to give up extras, such as crisps and cakes and donating some money to Cafod.  Cafod’s fundraising theme this year was  ‘Brighten Up for Harvest’ so we asked the children to wear bright clothes.  We raised a grand total of £110.

Many thanks to Mrs Terry who came into school today to lead a special Cafod Assembly. Mrs Terry talked to the children about protecting God’s world by living more sustainably. The children learnt about renewable energy sources and to be more aware of not polluting our world. The school council are going to explore how we can be more energy efficient as a school.

For our Harvest Festival we gave thanks for the food that we have to eat and we prayed for those people who cannot afford their own food.  We collected food and we donated this to St James’ Priory in Bristol.
We held a Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK in July. The children came to school on ‘Race Day’ wearing blue or pink and had a chance to get their face painted with the ‘Race for life’ go faster stripes.  The children raised a phenomenal £1,303.70 for Cancer Research.
